The U nited States an d ECOWAS continue to st rengthen our t rade partnership, including the signi ng of a Trade and Investment Fram ework Agreement (TI FA) with ECOWAS (2014) as weil as the expanded trade opportunit i es provided by the reauthorization of the Afri can Growth a n d Opportunities Act (AGOA). ECOWAS h as a lso been selected as a partner und er t he expanded Trade Africa initiati ve ann ounced by President Obama in Ju ly 201 5. In the sp iri t of expandi n g trade-related cooperation, USA ID will provide funding for a Senior SPS/TBT Standards Advisor to directl y support ECOWAS in provi ding l eadership to support efforts of regi onal standa rds harmoni zation [Sanitary an d Phytosanitary (SPS) and Technical Ba rri ers to Trade (TBT)] in l ine with t he objectives of ECOWAS (ECOQUA L and ECOSHAM)
The Senior SPS/TBT Standards Advisor will be located at ECOWAS and assi gned to work directly under the responsibility of the ECOWAS Commi ssion er for ln dustry and Private Sector
